After some debate and discussion the team agreed that we are going to standardize our robot on the robot for this year. We agreed that our hardware (like the nuts and bolts) will be using standard measurements, while all other dimensions, like the ROV dimensions, will be using metric units. We developed a timeline for the robot and set key milestone dates for when things need to be completed. We took a quiz on the rules, and all passed, proving that we all know the rules for this year. We broke into different groups and started design for individual parts of the robot. Most of the mission props were constructed so we can see and play with the different elements of the mission. We found out that the qualifier for the international competition will be on April 2, 2011.

MATE released our game the day before. We voted on a logo for the team. We broke into two separate groups to read the rules for this year. After reading the rules separately we came back together as a team and each group gave their interpretation of the rules. This made sure that we read them correctly and it showed us what questions we needed to get answered by the MATE panel. We started to brainstorm ideas to accomplish the different tasks. We made an estimate for the time budget for the mission. A presentation was made about SolidWorks that allowed everyone to know its capabilities so that we can design parts more efficiently. We developed a parts list so we could start prototyping different ideas to complete the different tasks. A group cleaned out of test tank with a pressure washer so it is spotless for this new season.

November 20, 2010

This was a training day for the team. A safety presentation and PowerPoint was led by the team captain. One of our mentors presented a basic introduction to the field of underwater robotics. A group of people worked on programming our old robot for practice while new members practiced using the tools in the lab. Older members led demonstrations for each tool and made sure that the new members used the tools in a safe manner.

Jesuit Robotics ROV Pilot Training

Jesuit Robotics has put together an impressive ROV Pilot training video. This video will be able to teach all young ROV pilots what they need to know to pilot their own ROVs. If you follow our AMAZING piloting program, you can be just as cool as we are, and pilot your ROV with style!

Jesuit Robotics Lab is back in Order

Jesuit Robotics spent today finishing our lab cleanup. We installed new industrial shelving units, rebuilt our network, ,set-up dual monitors on two computers, and played with our new lathe.
