Eripio Pool Testing In Monterey
This past weekend, we took our ROV down to Monterey to have our first public test run of the ROV. Our ROV did a great job, and was able to complete all tasks required to qualify for the MATE competition.

Today, the Jesuit robotics team was featured in the Make Magazine Blog, and had links to our site, and a repost of the video that our Public Relations team put together.

This past weekend, Jesuit Robotics was able to get Eripio in the pool and start test piloting. We have over 75 new pictures of the Pool Workday, and of workday before this one. This year’s freshman, juniors, and seniors seem to have a real knack for piloting the ROV, as all of out pilots were able to correctly apply a plastic skirt, on one of the submarine props used for this years MATE competition.
We hope you will take the time to view the updates to this years gallery, by going here
The Jesuit Robotics main ROV has officially been named Eripio. This name is latin for “To Rescue”, a fitting name for the ROV, because it’s task this year is to help save a sunken ROV. This picture is one of the custom nameplates created for Eripio… you’ll see more at the competitions.
Jesuit Robotics is going to Maker Faire, and we are bringing our rov’s to show off. We also will have some stuff for the faire participants to do… we will let you know when we see you there…. but here is a hint… scout. We’re not going to say anymore!
Over this past weekend, we had a ufo attack our ROV tank! We have video of the aliens, and hope that you’ll see the REAL threat they are posing to our ROV testing.
Today is the last day of the spring break for the Jesuit Robotics Team. But unlike most of our fellow classmates, this didn’t mean going down to Hawaii, or some other popular family destination. It meant early mornings and late nights working on building motors, robotic claws and other parts to finish the assembly on the ROV.
We also started to learn how to use our new ioBridge equipment. The ioBridge is this sweet little board that is always internet connected, and then allows you to control anywhere in the world over the web. You can check out the main website for the board here. We also would like to thank ioBridge for extending to us a very generous discount on the hardware.
This weekend marked the creation of one of the two explorer class ROV’s that we are making to take with us to share at maker faire. We are going to be running an interactive booth at the faire, and are going to allow two Makers, people who live to build, and pit them against each other in an underwater challenge.
We hope to see many of our readers at the faire, and hope that you will come play at our booth.
Today the Jesuit Robotics team received our acceptance letter to be a maker at this years Bay Area Maker Faire! This is an event sponsored by O’Reilly Media, producers of Make, Craft and Hacks Magazines. We will be showing off our ROV’s in a pool to all of the Maker Community. See us at Maker Faire May 30th and 31st at the San Mateo County Expo Center! You can click the badge below to go to the official Maker Faire website.
The Jesuit Robotics team has finished building the first edition of our orange reactor. Being from the sunny state of california, and having a green energy requirement to fill, we thought “Lets power our robot with an Orange Reactor!”
After several issues with the network, drivers and our lab server computer, we have now brought the Jesuit Robotics Webcam online.
We will broadcast Wednesdays from 3-5, and Saturdays from 9-5.
Welcome to the Jesuit Robotics! We have designed a new theme and added a whole bunch of new features to the website. We are now able to send txt updates to all users that register for updates and have a webcam stream from our lab. We will broadcast live from 3-5 on Wednesdays and from 9-5 on Saturdays. Enjoy the new Jesuit Robotics!
We have updated our 2009 team pictures with photos from the January 31st workday. You can view them here.
