Team at Jesuit High School

Jesuit High School Robotics, also known as Site 3 Engineering, was started in the early 21st century with Physics teacher Jerry Glasser at the helm. The team competed in the FIRST Robotics competition for several years before moving to MATE. In just two years, the Jesuit Robotics Team climbed to the top of the international ROV competition, beating several collegiate teams during the 2007 MATE competition in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Among the team’s training regimen is the Discover Scuba Program, as well as classes in safety and electronics. In preparation for its competitions, the team has constructed a smaller tank for motor testing, a larger tank for ROV testing, and makes use the school’s swimming pool for final testing. In 2007, the team’s second year in the MATE competitions, Site 3 was given the opportunity to step up to the Explorer class, an international collegiate class. After graciously accepting this challenge and working for many months, the robotics team competed in Newfoundland, Canada against colleges from around the world. The members went home happy, with a hard-earned first place trophy in their laps as well as the sportsmanship award for one of the members. Now in its third year of underwater competition, the Jesuit Robotics Team has decided this year to compete once again in MATE, as well as in NURC, a national competition for colleges and companies.
